Treignac is the world’s leading canoeing and kayaking centre and hosts the annual downstream kayaking championship on the Vézère. Generally good for fishing, the Vézère is transformed into an ideal torrent for the occasion thanks to the release of water from the dam, to the great delight of the 250 international kayakers competing. This large-scale event attracts 40,000 spectators and takes place at Pentecost for the competition and in April for the training phase.
